Life is good!

A new thing for me, working as a Pink Lady at the local hospital. I was so exhausted after my first shift, I'm grateful I have a few weeks to rest before my next one. I help on the Med/surg wing, getting things for patients, and cleaning up etc...my hat's off the the CNA's and nurses...

Andrea and I went to a sale at a thrift shop that focuses on children's clothing. The first Saturday of the month, they clear out the past date items at 25cents apiece! wow, you should see the craziness! At one point I took something out of a big black garbage bag that was sitting open on the floor...turned out that was another woman's shopping bag! I wonder how big her family is>? We found some really cute things, and I may make this a regular habit...I spent $6.89 and walked out with my own garbage bag of clothing...A few of the things I picked up!

As most of you know, I love to decorate. I love to re-purpose things as well. We're trying to get rid of the apples and red and green colors in our kitchen...our new look follows...

My new moto...(Duane knows this doesn't apply to our projects...they're complicated 'cause we do it ourselves!)

I stitched this while traveling...
Our cute hutch...you can see the white plates and bowls that I lugged back from Limoge France... I was determined to have some Limoge China I bought myself in France...a goal that I'd made when I was 19 years old working at Auerbach's Department store in Murray Utah! Wow, simple pleasures for simple people!
O.k., here's the vase that Duane picked out in Venice. We were in this amazing glass "factory"...nothing automated, all hand done/blown. We really couldn't see anything we fell in love with enough to part with the kind of money they were asking for their art...then Duane spotted the clearance table (that's my husband!), and we fell in love with this vase. Enough to lug it home in his carry-on as well. It weighs 10 pounds...no kidding! But it's a great reminder of the greatest trip ever!

I recovered our old sofa until we finish re-modeling and get to buy a new sofa...it was fun and relatively easy...I recovered some old pillows, and came up with the idea of using a yellow suit jacket I found for 99cents. I used it to make this pillow and to make part of the seat covers on the sofa cushions! The blue and white fabric is from an old pillow case cut into sections and pieced together with the jacket squares..what a scrounge, huh? I make myself proud sometimes, it's the thrill of the hunt, I know DeAnn would be proud of me!

This is the new headboard that Duane and I made for our bed! We are going to paint and do a few other things in our bedroom soon...
try and guess how we did this!

What clever projects you come up with!Wish we lived closer so I could go to that kids store with you. That glass vase is lovely, but I enjoy the Morano glass beads Dad bought me. What a wonderful trip with all of you.

That's so great that you volunteer at the hospital! I bet the patients love you. You got some great finds at the baby store. Heidi and I love our local Baby Trader as well. Love you! --Cheryl
